The Paint Box is a fictional story based on the historical person Marietta Tintoretto from Renaissance Venice. Marietta finds friendship with a poor cabin boy through a shared love of drawing. The paint box is a metaphor for sharing, – a present from father to daughter, and then from daughter to newfound friend.
